Not many Langport Runners out Parkrunning this week. Liz Martin achieved the highest Grade percentage - well done Liz! Mike achieved our only PB this week - see his report below. Nick moved up an age category. On Saturday he was 50 years and one day!  Not sure age improved his time.............then again, mine was pretty disappointing. I blame recovering from this horrible cold/cough............not lack of fitness/too much birthday cake or anything.

Taunton Longrun Meadow Parkrun had a bit of a 'bottleneck' issue at the start of their run on their original route. It has become more of an issue as the event has grown in popularity.  Since Christmas they have trialled running the route in the other direction. Personally, I don't think it has solved the problem. The organisers are now looking for feedback regarding whether to continue this new route or whether to return to the original route. If you have an opinion, please join in the discussion on their Facebook page:

Please also note that Longrun Meadow is hoping to have their first run with Pacers (25, 30, 35, 40, 45 minutes), as well as a run/walk pacer (run 2 mins, walk 1 minute), this Saturday 4th February. If you want to volunteer to be a pacer, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or you may find it useful to go along and try and stay with a pacer.

A short report from Tourist Mike Norton from Margate's 201st Park Run

Today I ventured to my home town Park Run.  You might have noticed from my accent that I am not from Somerset but a Man of Kent.Margate Park Run

The run is reasonably flat but as it is a coastal run can get quite windy and today was no exception as the wind speed was 19 mph, which equated to a fresh breeze on the beaufort scale, and the wind was from South which meant a cross wind (not very helpful for running) although we did get a bit of sun. The land and the sea temperature were the same  a chilly 7 Degrees centigrade.  The start is at Palm Bay shelter on the Prom with a loop around the band stand and then a run up to the Pumping Station and then back across the grass by the Prom to the finish line.

As the course is just a mile from my Mum & Dads I warmed up with a pre race run from the house.  My Dad met me at the finish and I was able to get a lift back.  Phew!

It was a small field 61 runners and I came in a respectable 20th knocking 2 minutes of my last Margate Park Run time.
