It was a chilly start first thing, especially if you were up early for a sport of tourism like I was. However, it did turn into a beautiful warm sunny autumn morning. I was visiting a pal in Bristol so I took the opportunity to become the first Langport Runner to visit the Severn Bridge parkrun and I am very glad I did. It is only an hour away and well worth a visit. After the race briefing we took a short walk to the Bridge and then ran out and back along the bridge over the River’s Wye and Severn until the turnaround point over in England (which is about ¾ of the length of the bridge) you then turn around and run back to Wales. The views over the Bridge are pretty special you also run in 3 Counties Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire and Avon. I am still only about 70% fit so had a nice steady run for my 93rd parkrun.
Elsewhere there was a good turnout at Montacute with our evergreen ladies taking the top 3 places on the table. I am sure Liz (who came top) could get a course PB shortly. Jean now in parkrun double figures, warming up for the Chard Chaser and came in 2nd place and on Sunday went on to win the age cat prize. Well done Jean. Sue came third and I assume back to full fitness! Grahame was our leading fella in the table in 5th place!! Amanda chalked up her 125th parkrun Dave G now is on 175 and Maggie on 41. Jane B-P improved her PB on her 3rd run and will be going sub 40 mins very soon.
Montacute Notice
Will be having our annual Reverse run of the course (think running right to the top of the Avenue and then, at the bottom of the Avenue, turning right & down the Hill!) to celebrate the clocks going back on Saturday 26th October, with our Hallowe’en Run on Saturday 2nd November.
Christmas running and the move back to Ninesprings
parkruns will continue be running at Montacute House each Saturday up to and including Saturday 28th December 2019 (weather dependent, of course) – there will be no additional parkrun on Christmas Day (as the venue will be closed).
There will be a parkrun on New Year’s Day 2020 at 10.30am. Henstridge Airfield – is likely to start earlier for a new year double.
The B Course at Yeovil Country Park will start from the start of January and will run there until Saturday 4th April 2020. There will be a week off over the Easter Weekend (Saturday 11th April) and then we’ll return to Montacute on Saturday 18th April.
Over at Longrun Meadow Nicky’s excellent run was scored her an age percentage of over 65% Hazel and Roscoe were there too with Roscoe getting a Doggie PB and I am sure could go quicker, if Hazel trained harder! Over at Street Richard ran a PB and will surely dip under 24 minutes there shortly. Martin has an easy one by his standards.
Nick and Roxane were over on the I.O.W. and ran the parkrun there for the first time, with Nick gaining bragging rights by 5 hundreds of a percentage point!
