Parkrun Report Saturday 10th November 2018 by Roxane Pratt
|
Less parkrunning this week by both Langport Runners and nationwide. Maybe the Friday evening/night weather helped decide plans about the Saturday morning run? All of us that did run, ran locally.
Looking at photos and reports on Longrun and Montacute, weather-wise, these runs reflected Karen's and my experience at Street. A lovely bright start to the run and about 30 minutes of dry and sunny weather, then a complete contrast when the rain came down. Spitting at first and eventually torrential, leaving all the marshals and many of the runners drenched.
No PB's this week. Paul was as close as it gets and Ali only 12 seconds off her first Parkrun. Liz pipping Karen to the top of the table and first in her age category.
Lower numbers helped the carparking situation at Montacute. At Longrun, parking also become an issue last week. The core team have posted this notice:
"Tesco have been in touch with us.
They are having some problems with a large number of customer complaints about parkrunners clogging up the car park on Saturday mornings. It has, apparently, become a bit of an issue.
Tesco’s approach has always been that parkrunners are also customers, but sheer volume coupled with the observation that not all are going in to shop after parkrun is making them think again.
We are seeking a meeting with the manager to discuss his concerns.
In the meantime could you find alternative parking or walk or cycle down for parkrun? We want to get on with our neighbours and Tesco’s have been very supportive in the past.
Thanks all
Jamie and Dave"
