A contrast to my last report on just 3 runners, this week 16 of us were at 5 different Parkruns.

As usual, our most popular choice was Montacute. Due to the ground being wet, the course was modified. It took a slightly different route down towards the house and, again, after the final hill. I'm told it was still quite slippy underfoot, hard work and a little longer than 5k. Perhaps not surprising then no Langport Runner PBs here. Well done Celia for her first Parkrun and to Sue for completing her 99th Parkrun. With 96/99 of her Parkruns being at Montacute, it is fitting that she is planning her 100th to be at Montacute next week.

Anyone wanting to support Sue please come along to Montacute next week (11.11.17).

The one PB achieved this week was by Mike at Shepton Mallet. It was his third visit here and he managed to knock a conclusive 14 seconds off his previous best. Good work Mike! Amanda (with Holly) were running for the 8th time at Tamar Lakes. Dave and Nick ran the Taunton Longrun Meadow course.

I tried Netley Abbey, near Southampton for the first time. It was a three lap route on path, grass and through forest. It was raining for most of the run and was fairly slippy in parts. Very friendly volunteers and runners. The first Saturday is always a pacing event here but, with this run being a new route, some of the pacing was unreliable. I finished 33:01 with 32 minute pacer just in front of me and 33 minute pacer almost a minute behind. Pacing is tricky anyway, and proved even harder being the first week on a new course. It was lovely to see a group of Couch to 5kers 'graduate' with their first non-stop 5k.
