Latest Updates - SLaMM and MARTOCK 10k

Results so far:

Within the events diary are 26 races highlighted for the Club Championship (CC).  To qualify for the Championship you will need to complete a minimum of 6 races out of 26. Some of the races are also in the Somerset Series.

It is intended to use a similar scoring system for the Club Championship as we use for the 10K Monthly Medal (MM). The explanation of which follows below. This will be tried for the first year and as with the Monthly Medal adjusted if necessary.

Each race will be entered into Race Master Software and the age grading system used to produce the final club member results.

This means if you win the race only running at 65% of your age grading performance and someone from an older age group performs at 75% of their ability then they will probably finish above you irrespective of where they finished in the race.

Points are awarded from 10 for 1st place to 1 for last and every subsequent place.

Time bonus points will also be awarded depending on the race distance and terrain. For instance a normal on road 10k will receive the following time bonus points for male competitors 5 for under 40 mins, 3 for under 50 mins and 1 for under 60 mins and for female competitors 5 for under 50 mins, 3 for under 60 mins and 1 for under 70 mins. The other qualifying events will be looked at on a winning time basis and adjusted accordingly, the first year is very much a tester, if past results can be found then these will be used to gauge the bonus point system.

Once the results are generated we will have current positions printed out and displayed at the club as we do for the monthly medal.

We will also have a yearly “best in race distance trophy/medal” e.g. 5k, 10k and half marathon

We want to encourage as many club members as possible to enter so we have put in as many different types of races as possible, allowing for different distances, days, and terrain.  It is also really important to support our local races so we have included as many of these as possible.

Please note the following:

*Street Winter Series 5k and **Yeovilton Summer Series 5k – one from each to count.  We will take your best result in each Series.  (Only 2009 races count)

***Best marathon and half marathon- out of any certified UK or foreign race between 1st Jan and 31st Dec 2009. (Please let us know if you do some obscure race in Timbuktu so that we can record it!)

This year will be the pilot where we can iron out any problems.  As we are only launching it now some may miss out on the first couple of races but that can’t be helped. If you did Hestercombe, Quantock Fell or Babcary it will be counted.
