March 2006

A rather belated Happy New Year! This newsletter should have been out in January but you didn’t send me any news!  Anyway after this endless long winter, spring is just around the corner and the clocks go forward on Sunday 26th March, so get your off road shoes out ready for the first Wednesday evening trek along the Parrett!  With this in mind it was requested at a committee meeting that all Langport members should be reminded of our Code of Conduct. I have included it in this edition.  It is also on the website. Please read it carefully and adhere to it – it’s important for the safety of all of us.

Pete has redesigned the Langport Runners website www.langportrunners.co.uk  It has lots of information on it but in order for it to be really successful we need to use it regularly and also send Pete up to date news on events etc.

Look out for a new logo coming to your running vest soon.  It was decided to change the above logo which is not appropriate now we are at Ridgeway Hall and not the Sports Centre.

Finally you will find my chocolate brownie recipe in this edition – well I threatened you with recipes if you didn’t give me any running news! In the next edition there will be a knitting pattern for woolly vests – you have been warned!

  Ilminster Lions 10K November 6th 2005

Over 200 runners braved the wind and rain to run in this popular road race around the roads of Ilminster. It is always a well organized event by the Ilminster Lions and this year was no exception. The race starts on a hill and continues to be rather undulating for the next 6K.  Then there is a nice freewheeling section downhill before you pick up the road into Ilminster for the last 2K.  Free soup or hot drinks are given out at the end - very welcome this year after the wet run. The winner this year set a new course record of 31.59.                     Liz
